Two Roads Diverged

Two Roads Diverged

The world buried two former presidents this week. The fates of the two could not have been more different.

One, a humble man, sought to serve his country as a statesman for over two decades, never seeking higher office. Unprecedented events thrust him into the Oval Office. Ford walked softly and lead by example through one of the most difficult  times in a nation's history.

The other, a despot, seized control of his nation and made himself into an earlthy deity, living above the law of humanity and dying in the same manner.

A servant and an overthrown king, one deeply loved and admired, the other, an object of international fear, disgust and condemnation. We are a poorer world for the loss of one and better for the vile lessons of the other.
